Are There Real Heartburn Remedies?

If heartburn is a problem you find yourself dealing with, there are some things you can do about it.

Some of them are common sense solutions.

Sometimes we think of heartburn as being the punchline on a television show. You know the ones were people start showing their age by complaining that it is to late in the evening to eat certain foods.

But the truth is, anyone can find themselves in need of heartburn remedies.

Acid reflux, or “heartburn” as it is commonly known,can flair up at anytime.

If you have too much stress in your life, smoke cigarettes, drink too much caffeine, alcohol or even eating too many spicey foods, you can find yourself suffering from heartburn.

Since most people will find themselves doing at least some of these things they will likely suffer from acid reflux of heartburn.

Now common sense will tell you that there is a simple solution to overcoming heartburn, stop overindulging.

But sometimes heartburn has more to do with aging, than your own personal habits. When this is the case it is time to look for heartburn remedies.

Heartburn in itself is pretty normal. It is one of those self perpetuating problems however. You see, the more often you suffer from heartburn, the more inflamed the sphincter becomes. As this happens the easier it is for stomach acids to rise up into your esophagus.

If you suffer from frequent and severe attacks of heartburn, in good conscience, I would advise you to see your doctor. Frequent bouts of heartburn can increase your chances of developing cancer of the esophagus, so please do not take a chance.

For the most part though, there are heartburn remedies that you can use to alleviate some of the symptoms yourself.

One thing I use myself at night, when heartburn is keeping me awake, is to prop myself up in bed using multiple pillows.

I know that some doctors recommend that you put blocks of wood under the bed frame at the head of your bed to raise the head of your bed higher above your stomach, which basically does the same thing.

These solutions seem to work with gravity to help keep stomach acids were they belong, in your stomach.

You may also want to limit your food intake, when it is getting close to the time you go to bed. This will help keep the acid production in your stomach to a minimum.

Losing weight may also help to minimize your heartburn.

And of course there any number of over the counter heartburn remedies available for use to help you.

So now you have some easy heartburn remedies to help keep your suffering to a minimum.
